Ingredients
- 1/2 loaf prepared Fleischmann's® Simply Homemade® No Knead Bread Mix, any flavor
- 8 ounces Italian sausage
- 1 cup fresh OR frozen broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1-3/4 cups milk
- 4 eggs
- 1-1/4 teaspoons Italian herb seasoning
- 1 cup (4 ounces) Italian blend OR mozzarella shredded cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes to dry out. Remove from oven; set aside to cool completely.
Cook sausage and broccoli in large skillet for 5 minutes. Stir in bell pepper and continue to cook 3 to 5 minutes or until sausage is cooked through and peppers are crisp tender. Remove from heat.
Whisk milk, eggs and Italian seasoning in a very large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined. Stir in vegetable mixture. Fold in cheese and toasted bread cubes. Pour mixture into 8 x 8-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until puffed and firm in the center. Cover with aluminum foil the last 10 minutes of baking if the top is getting too brown. Remove from oven; let sit 10 minutes before serving.
Make ahead tip: Strata can be prepared the night before, covered and refrigerated. Remove baking dish from refrigerator 30 minutes prior to baking.
